Whole-Property Energy Assessment

A smarter way to plan your property's energy future.

Modern homes and commercial buildings are becoming increasingly complex. Solar PV, battery storage, heating systems, EV charging, ventilation and electrical demand all interact - and changes to one system can affect the performance of another.

Warm Homes Group is developing a connected, whole‑property approach to energy planning. Instead of looking at technologies in isolation, we analyse how your property uses energy today, how its requirements may change in the future and what should be considered before investing in major improvements.

Understand first. Improve second.

Diagram showing the process of solar energy conversion to electrical power for homes. It begins with solar panels generating clean electricity, which is stored in a battery. The stored energy is used for heating with an efficient system for hot water. Power then goes to an electric vehicle (EV) for transportation and finally to a safe, future-ready electrical system for household use.

Why look at the whole property?

Energy upgrades are often planned one technology at a time - solar panels, batteries, EV chargers or heating systems. But these decisions are connected, and planning them separately can make it harder to understand the right system size, installation order and how different technologies may interact.

A whole‑property energy assessment helps answer essential questions before you invest:

  • How much energy does the property use?

  • When is that energy being used?

  • What electrical capacity is available?

  • What systems and technologies are already installed?

  • What additional demand could be created in the future?

  • Could improvements work better when planned together?

  • Which improvements should be prioritised?

Our whole‑property approach brings these considerations together, helping you make better‑informed, future‑ready decisions.

Understand first. Improve second.

WHAT A WHOLE‑PROPERTY ASSESSMENT COULD CONSIDER

Depending on the property, its existing systems and your goals, areas considered may include:

Modern three-story house with solar panels on the roof, large windows, a garage with an electric car charging, and a landscaped yard with trees and shrubs.

How Is This Different From an EPC?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) provides a standardised assessment of a property’s energy efficiency and is required in certain circumstances.

A whole-property energy assessment serves a different purpose.

It looks more closely at the property when considering technologies and future requirements such as solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, heating, electrical demand and future electrification.

The aim is to provide additional insight before major energy improvements are made.

A whole-property energy assessment does not replace an EPC, electrical inspection or any other statutory assessment or certification where one is required.

Is a Whole-Property Energy Assessment Right for You?

You don't need to know exactly what technology you want before speaking to us.

In fact, that's the point.

It could be useful if:

  • You're considering solar PV or battery storage but aren't sure what size or setup is right for your property

  • You expect to add an EV charger or other electrical technology in the future

  • You're considering changes to your heating or hot water

  • You want to understand whether your existing electrical infrastructure can support future demand

  • You're planning several energy improvements and want to understand how they could work together

  • You're a landlord or property investor planning improvements across one or more properties

  • You manage housing, commercial buildings or a property portfolio

  • You want to understand the property before deciding what to buy

If you're asking “What should I install?” - we think the better question starts with

“What does my property actually need?”

Renewable and electrical installation services are delivered through Warm Homes Energy Group Ltd, with applicable industry accreditations and certification.

That practical installation experience gives our whole-property approach an important foundation:

Understanding what happens beyond the report - when technology actually has to work in a real property.

We provide services across North Wales and North West England.

Energy MOT or Whole-Property Energy Assessment?

Already have solar, batteries or other energy technology?
An Energy MOT helps you understand how your existing system is performing and whether there are opportunities to optimise it.
